In light of ongoing recovery efforts and the lasting impact of the Firstfall tragedy, the following community centers will remain closed until further notice: Andover Hall, Looff Fields, Longfellow Community Center, Prairie Point Commons, and Watha Overlook.
The Thurnau Community Center and the Hickman-Franklin Community Center remain open but are currently operating as staging sites for response and relief operations. Only authorized personnel are permitted on the premises.

Brookside Community Center
Located just two blocks south of one of Lovat's most renowned campuses, Portage City University in Brookside sits the Brookside Community Center. Since its establishment, this charming small brick building has been an integral part of the local community. Seamlessly connected to Brookside Private Elementary School and nestled alongside the vibrant Brookside Plaza, the center serves as a hub for various activities and events.
Broadway Hall
Nestled seamlessly within the historic Broadway Hill warren, the Broadway Hall Community Center harmoniously blends into its surroundings. Conveniently situated within walking distance of popular attractions and the vibrant shops and restaurants on Broadway Street, the center has become a beloved gathering place for locals and visitors alike.
Demetrios Union Community Center

Child Care Programs
The Lovat Recreation Department operates subsidized child care programs across the community center network, serving children from infancy through age twelve. Our programs are designed to support working families, provide safe and stimulating environments, and build connections between children and their communities across every level of the city.
Full-Day Child Care
Full-day child care is available at select community centers for children aged six weeks through five years. Programs run during standard civic business hours with extended hours available at several locations. Enrollment is rolling throughout the year, subject to availability. A sliding-scale fee structure is in place — no family is turned away for inability to pay. Speak with your local community center coordinator for details.
After-School Programs
After-school care is available for children aged five through twelve at most community centers. Programs include supervised homework time, arts and crafts, physical activity, and organized games. Children may be enrolled on a full-week or partial-week basis depending on availability at each location.
Holiday & School Break Care
During civic holidays and scheduled school breaks, the Recreation Department offers full-day activity programs for enrolled children. These programs feature themed activities, field trips within the city, and special guest instructors. Advance registration is required — contact your community center no fewer than ten days before the break period.

Enrollment & Waiting Lists
To enroll a child in any Recreation Department child care program, visit your nearest community center with a valid identification document and proof of residence. Popular centers maintain waiting lists, particularly for infant and toddler spaces. Families are encouraged to register early. Priority placement is given to families displaced by the Firstfall disaster and those residing on Level One.
Lovat has always been a city that creates. From the painted facades of the Pergola warrens to the improvisational music that drifts from basement venues in Martello, creative expression is woven into the fabric of daily life here. The Recreation Department supports and promotes the arts across all nine levels through programming, venues, and community grants.
Public Gallery Program
The Recreation Department maintains a network of public gallery spaces in community centers across the city. These spaces rotate exhibitions quarterly and are free to visit. Artists wishing to submit work for consideration may apply through their local community center or via Directory Agent.
Current featured exhibitions include:
- Aftermath & Remembrance — A group exhibition of works responding to the Firstfall disaster, hosted at the Demetrios Union Community Center.
- Forms of the Sunk — Photography and mixed media documenting life in Level One, at the Denny Lake Community Center.
- The Camalote Commission — A traveling exhibition supported by The Camalote Group, currently on view at the Lovat Art Museum.
Music & Performance
The Autumn Gala, broadcast annually on 191.9 AZAH, is the city's most celebrated cultural event of the year. Beyond the Gala, the Recreation Department supports a year-round calendar of performances, including chamber concerts in Pergola Square, open-air theatre in Brookside, and the irregular but beloved fronton poetry sessions hosted by the Pathé Community Center.
Jack Albert Hall
One of Lovat's premiere performance venues, Jack Albert Hall is known for its exceptional acoustics and intimate atmosphere. Currently in residence is Georganna Zhelezo, performing five nights a week in what critics have called a career-defining engagement. Tickets are available at the Hall box office or through any Directory Agent.
The Zann Performing Arts Center
The oldest entertainment venue in the city, the Zann occupies a narrow, steeply ascending passage in Pergola Square on Level Seven. Its peaked upper stories press out over the passage below. Inside, the performance space is genuinely expansive. The acoustics are extraordinary. Audiences frequently report that performances here stay with them in ways they find difficult to articulate. Its stage remains one of the most coveted in the Territories.
Jazz & Live Music
Lovat has a deep and thriving jazz culture, with clubs scattered across every level of the city drawing top talent from across the Territories. The scene is fiercely local but internationally regarded. Among the names currently drawing crowds are Hal Hughes & The Holgate Eight, whose driving ensemble sound has become the soundtrack of Broadway Hill's late nights; Janvier Aluminia, the celebrated blues and jazz vocalist whose performance at the most recent Autumn Gala brought down the house; and Grea wen Lashe, whose improvisational sets have developed a devoted following in the Pathé warren and beyond. Youth Arts Programs
The Recreation Department runs subsidized arts programs for young people aged 6–17 across multiple community centers. Current offerings include drawing and painting, ceramics, movement and dance, and introductory instrument classes. Enrollment is open on a rolling basis. Contact your local community center for availability and fee structures.
Cultural Grants
Small grants are available to individual artists and community arts organizations operating within Lovat. Applications are reviewed twice yearly by the Recreation Department Arts Panel. Form AG-1 is available at any Directory Agent or community center reception.

- Lovat Antiquarian Society — Meets biweekly at the Gardner Community Center. Focus on city history, pre-Establishment records, and architectural heritage.
- Brookside Debating Club — Weekly debates on civic, philosophical, and cultural topics. All skill levels welcome.
- Lovat Allotment & Garden League — Coordinates shared growing plots across community center grounds. Applications for plots open seasonally.
- Martello Neighborhood Watch — Voluntary community safety patrol coordinating with the LPD. Meets at the Demetrios Union Community Center.

- Lovat Astronomical Circle — Stargazing and sky observation from the upper levels. Equipment available to members. Meets monthly at various Community Centers.
- Antiquarian Document Society — Collectors and scholars of historic cartography, city records, and pre-Aligning documents. Meets at the Lovat Central Library.
- Clockmakers' Guild — A fraternal organization of working clockmakers, horologists, and mechanical enthusiasts. Apprenticeship program open to new members.
- Night Market Association — Coordinating body for the informal night market culture of the lower levels.
- Ornithological Society — Dedicated to the observation and recording of bird species across the city's nine levels and surrounding territories. Monthly field outings.
- Level One Preservation Society — Advocacy group working to ensure the cultural and architectural heritage of The Sunk is documented and protected.
Starting a New Club
Any group of five or more residents may apply to register a new club with the Recreation Department. Registered clubs gain access to subsidized meeting space at community centers and may apply for small program grants. Submit Form CL-1 to your nearest community center or Directory Agent. Residents are reminded that all formally organized clubs meeting on a recurring basis are required to maintain current registration with the Department under municipal code. Please remember, under new LLA regulations, unregistered organizations may be subject to review or dissolution at the discretion of the city.
Youth Clubs
The Recreation Department sponsors a number of youth clubs operating after school hours across the community center network. Current offerings include junior debating, craft and making, coding and mechanical tinkering, and the popular Junior Docent program which trains young people aged 12–17 as guides for community gallery spaces.
From the roar of the fronton to the quiet discipline of early-morning swim practice in The Sunk, sport and physical activity are central to life in Lovat. The Recreation Department operates and maintains sports facilities across the city and supports both competitive leagues and informal fitness programming.
Jai Alai
Jai alai is the soul of sport in Lovat. Played on the city's iconic frontons — the most celebrated being the Brown-Jenkins Memorial Fronton and the Pathé Fronton — the game draws enormous crowds and is the subject of fierce inter-warren rivalry.
The Recreation Department administers the City Jai Alai League, which runs two competitive seasons per year. Amateur players wishing to register for recreational league play should contact their local community center. The Bicknell Cup, awarded annually to the city's champion doubles pair, is the most prestigious sporting award in Lovat.
Ausca
Our homegrown fast-moving hard-hitting gridiron is played on a special fronton, using a large oblong ball. Matches are fast-paced and attritional, emphasizing endurance, teamwork, and close-quarters tactical movement. While the professional Major League Ausca (MLA) attracts millions of viewers with its bi-weekly broadcasts, many amateur leagues exist within the city. Several community centers now host indoor ausca courts, and the Recreation Department runs a youth development program in partnership with the Denny Lake and King Station centers.
Swimming & Aquatics
Lovat's relationship with water is unlike any other city in the Territories. Competitive swimming is governed by the Lovat Aquatics Board, which organises city-wide open water events and manages access to training routes in Level One in coordination with the LPD Aquatics Division. Public pools are available at the Brookside Community Center and the Community Center at The Terraces.
Fitness Classes & Open Gym
All Recreation Department community centers offer structured fitness classes on a rolling weekly schedule, including strength and conditioning, movement and flexibility, and partner drills. Class schedules are posted at each center and available via Directory Agent. Open gym hours are available most mornings and evenings — contact your local center for current times.
Walking & Running Routes
The Recreation Department maintains a set of waymarked walking and running routes across Levels Three through Seven, taking in parks, plazas, and quiet passages. Route maps are available at all community centers and Directory Agent booths. The popular Pergola Circuit (approximately 4.5km) and the Brookside Loop (7km) are the most widely used.
