A suspected pickpocket was taken into custody yesterday afternoon at King Station, Level Four after monorail transit wardens noticed him moving through the ticket queue with what one officer described as “unusual enthusiasm for other people’s coat pockets.”
According to the report, the 29-year-old man had allegedly lifted two wallets and a watch before a commuter raised the alarm. Witnesses say the suspect attempted to blend into the departing crowd but was quickly intercepted near the west stairwell by patrol officers.
During a search, officers recovered three wallets, the watch, and a handful of loose lira. One of the wallets still contained the victim’s train ticket, which police used to identify and return it.
The suspect was booked on suspicion of theft and transported to the precinct holding cells on Level Five. Authorities are reviewing station security reports to determine whether additional incidents may be connected.
