Lovat Police

The Lovat Police Department (LPD) stands as a pillar of strength and security within our city. With a steadfast commitment to preventing crime, enforcing laws, and ensuring quality public safety, the LPD strives to deliver police services that are not only effective but also respectful, professional, and dependable.

To effectively serve the diverse needs of Lovat, the LPD operates within a framework of one hundred and twenty-one geographical areas known as “precincts.” Each precinct is carefully delineated to ensure comprehensive coverage and efficient allocation of resources. This precinct-based approach enables officers to develop an intimate understanding of their assigned communities, fostering stronger relationships and enhancing their ability to address specific localized concerns.

You can make a request for an initial police report, a collision report, or a clearance letter without going through a public disclosure request. LPD responds to each request within the timeframe that reasonably and fairly allocates resources to that request.)

Crime Data

Launched twenty-five years ago, LovStat is aimed at quickly addressing crime hotspots based on analysis of crime data and community reports of incidents.

The Department holds meetings every two weeks, involving staff throughout the department and partner agencies, to discuss the latest information and come up with strategies to reduce crime.

The regularity of the meetings allows the department to develop immediate solutions and quickly assess if strategies are working or if a course correction is needed. Emphasis is on using real-time data, getting direct feedback from community members, and increasing communication and collaboration throughout the department. Variations of LovStat, often called CopStat, are used by police departments around the country, including Hellgate and Syringa, to combat serious crime. LovStat was created as part of Chief O’Toole’s pledge to bring best business practices to the department.
